Prismatic Hatchling

Better? No, I'm not better, cousin. Just different - and watched over by the great dragons above.

In Advena, dragonborn are a unique race in that they have multiple methods of procreation available. Scholars and priests alike suggest that the draconic humanoids are a created race, the product of dragon magic, brought forth to serve their parents at a smaller scale than the dragons themselves could operate. Whether or not that is true, it's undisputable that dragonborn are both capable of reproducing through bearing live young as well as being hatched from a specially-prepared dragon's egg.

In modern times, nearly all dragonborn are the products of a mutual pairing - with the dragons gone from Advena, their eggs are generally unobtainable. Even before that was the case, however, a prismatic hatchling was a rare sight - where most dragon eggs could hatch several dragonborn, prismatic hatchlings are always the sole offspring. More importantly, however, is the fact that they are born of an egg that has laid fallow for years, unnoticed and unhatched. Biology suggests that the prismatics should not exist, but most dragonborn believe that their spontaneous births are not natural at all - but rather, the direct intervention of Bahamut and Tiamat, the twin draconic deities of order and chaos.

Playing a Prismatic Hatchling

Prismatic hatchlings are extraordinarily charismatic, every one of them. It is one of the gifts granted you by the uniqueness of your birth - along with the ability to manipulate your racial breath attack to fire a riot of prismatic energies. Prismatic hatchlings usually take prominent positions in dragonborn society, becoming reknowned priests or politicians, While you, and those like you, generally do not behave as though you are superior to other dragonborn, your natural talents and gifted tongue often raise you to such stature, and as such, great things are expected. After all - you are the product of divine intervention! There must be some greater purpose to your life.

In modern Advena, you are likely a hatchling found in an ancient dragon's hoard only recently explored or discovered, or perhaps from one of the few eggs kept in museums where dragonborn recall their past.
