Brash and bold, ibixian - or “goatmen”, as they're colloquially known - are hardy mountain folk prone to decisive action and physical resolution of conflict. While not barbaric, they rarely spend time in more ‘civilized’ locales, as their attitudes are often at odds with common mores and laws. While they may resemble satyrs or fauns, ibixian are much more powerfully built, significantly furrier, and disdain the hedonism and mischief of their furry cousins. They choose their leaders - and make decisions as a group - via ritual combat, though they almost never fight to significant injury amongst themselves.

Play an ibixian if you want . . .

Physical Qualities

Ibixians resemble most humanoids inasmuch as they have two legs, two arms, a single head, and a torso. Beyond that, they're distinct from many humanoid races in that their face is very much that of a goat, with a long, broad muzzle, and they are covered entirely by shaggy fur. Moreover, instead of feet, they have cloven hooves and hocks that appear to be rear-facing knees. They are tall and powerfully built, generally stronger than most humanoids of comparable size, and surefooted.

Ibixian Physiology and Society

Ibixians choose leaders by combat, and the strongest and most aggressive lead the pack. Thus, leadership is transitory and prone to challenge. Both males and females assert themselves and hold these temporary positions of power. More than just fighting for leadership, however, ibixians enjoy melee combat - and just about any sort of competition. They often start fights for the sheer pleasure of fighting. An ibixian loves to brawl with or alongside others of its kind.

Racial Feats

Eager Combatant

Your blood rushes in your ears when battle is joined, and you throw everything into your first strike.
Prerequisite: Ibixian, brute force racial power
Benefit: When you use your brute force racial power on the first attack roll you make in an encounter, you gain a +2 bonus to the attack roll.

Head Butt

When charging, you've found that your horns and rock-hard head can sometimes be more disruptive than the weapons you carry.
Prerequisite: Ibixian
Benefit: When you make a weapon attack, you can use your head, which is a weapon in the hammer group. Your head can be treated as either a one- or two-handed weapon, but only one at a time; it never needs to be drawn and can be wielded even when your hands are full. This weapon deals 1d6 damage and has a +2 proficiency bonus. You can enchant and disenchant your head. When you disenchant your head, it does not turn to dust.
In addition, when you charge and use your head as a weapon, and the charge attack hits, you also knock the enemy prone.

Rush of Companionship

More than even other ibixians, you love fighting alongside your comrades, and hit harder when they are watching your attacks.
Prerequisite: Ibixian, pack fervor racial trait
Benefit: You gain a +2 bonus to the damage roll you make against any enemy adjacent to at least one of your allies. The bonus to damage increases to +3 at 11th level and +4 at 21st level.

Solid Footing [Dragon 391]

Prerequisite: Dwarf or Ibixian
Benefit: You gain the earth walk ability (you ignore difficult terrain that is the result of rubble, uneven stone, or earthen construction such as stairs).

Zealous Warrior

When combat is happening over there, you make sure you're in place to participate.
Prerequisite: Ibixian
Benefit: You gain a +2 feat bonus to Initiative, and you only take a -2 penalty to attack rolls when you run (instead of -5).
